Cami’s protest signs
workshop with the ceiling
mural as ‘topdrop’.
Protest & Pandemic
Unfortunately, since finishing the project in
January 2020, the space has largely been out of
action due to Covid-19. However, just before the
lockdown, Cami hosted a workshop, Lettering
for Protest Signs, to promote the power of signs
for conveying messages. The women attending
created hand-painted banners and placards
ahead of International Women’s Day events on
8th March. In keeping with the new ceiling mural,
these women were able to turn their ideas into
tangible objects. As Cami puts it, “when you
take an idea, and put your brush on the wall, it
suddenly becomes a real thing in the real world”.
